Vibe Coding: The Founder's Guide to Building Fast Without Breaking Everything book cover
01 / The Trap

You shipped your prototype in a weekend. Then everything got harder.

AI coding tools made you dangerous. You built the demo. You ran the pitch. Maybe you landed a few customers.

Then the bugs started.

The feature you finished doesn't quite work the way you swore it did. The thing that looked done wasn't. A customer noticed something weird. Your co-founder asked a question you couldn't answer.

You spent the weekend trying to fix it. You almost did. Then you broke three other things.

This is the 80/20 trap. Vibe coding gets you 80 percent of the way to a product. The last 20 percent is where founders burn months, money, and credibility they can't get back.

02 / The Stakes

What happens when "looks done" runs into a real customer.

You won't find out in the build. You'll find out three months from now, when:

  • A customer asks why their data is missing.
  • A potential investor wants a security review and you can't pass it.
  • You hire your first real developer and they tell you the whole thing needs to be rewritten.
  • You try to add a single new feature and the existing app breaks in four places.

By the time these moments arrive, the cost of fixing them is multiples of what it would have cost to do it right the first time. And by then, you've already shipped to users who now associate your brand with bugs.

This isn't a hypothetical. This is what I see every week at MOX3 when founders bring us their AI-built prototypes and ask if we can save them.

Sometimes we can. Sometimes we can't.

03 / The Guide

I've spent 30 years cleaning up software so it doesn't break.

I'm Steve Zehngut. I run MOX3, a custom software development agency. Founders bring us their broken prototypes, their tangled WordPress sites, their inherited codebases nobody understands. We fix them, rebuild them, or replace them.

For the past two years, I've watched a new pattern emerge. Founders walking in with software they built themselves using Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, and the rest. The work looks impressive. The demo runs. The customer signed up.

And the foundation is hollow.

I wrote this book so the next wave of founders doesn't have to learn this the expensive way.

04 / What's Inside

What you'll learn.

This is a plain-English field guide, written for founders who don't code. No jargon. No hand-waving. Real cautionary tales, real frameworks, real next steps.

Why your AI-built prototype feels fragile, and how to tell when it actually is

The 80/20 trap and why almost everyone falls into it

The questions to ask before you write another prompt

What "production-ready" actually means in language you can use with your team

How to know when you've outgrown vibe coding and need real engineering

Real stories from founders who almost got trapped and the ones who didn't

A checklist you can run on your own software in 20 minutes

05 / The Easy Path
